The enchanting landscape of Lake Trasimeno, with its 13,200 hectares, is an excellently preserved natural paradise. A luxuriant nature of reeds and water lilies and a rich fauna of ducks, cormorants and herons that flock here and migrate in an eternal flutter.
Small villages, beaches and clear waters from which three islands emerge: the Polvese, the Maggiore, which is also the only inhabited one and famous for its handmade lace, and the Minore.
For those who like to explore villages, Castiglione del Lago overlooks a hill of limestone rock that is home to the remains of Etruscan tombs and Città delle Pieve, in its medieval aura, hides the narrowest alleyway in Italy.
Numerous activities are possible here: from water sports, such as sailing and sport fishing, to trekking, cycling and horse riding, to discover the beauty of nature, to feel free and be enchanted by the stories, flavours and products of tradition.
The numerous trekking trails are marked out by the CAI (Italian Alpine Club) and allow you to penetrate the dense woods of the green heart of Italy; the mountain bike trails branch out from the woods to the lake on terrain of varying difficulty; the horseback riding trails run along the shores of the lake and enter the ancient villages to capture the echo of a bygone era.
