Picnic in the vineyard

Umbria  is a generous land, that offers many local delicacies and breathtaking views. 

La Meridiana takes you to discover its land with an exclusive Picnic in the Assisi vineyards  , an immersion in one of the regions with the richest food and wine panorama in Italy; an activity to be done with the family, with friends or in couple, tasting a good glass of wine directly in the vineyard where it is produced,  following a path with information boards on wine and viticulture, and enjoying a light lunch on  the veranda with an exclusive view of Assisi  .

The experience is particularly suitable even for the little ones who will be able to have fun in the dedicated play areas, play with the special "Children in the vineyard" mini-kit and get to know Bea and Tea  , the vineyard goats.

The offer is available for a minimum length of stay of 5 nights  and includes: 

• A Picnic at Saio vineyards in Assisi  (24 minutes distance from the hotel).
• A path with information boards in the panoramic vineyard  .

• Opportunity to know Lea and Bea, the goats of the vineyard.

Length of activity: 1 1/2 hours

The tasting room and the out door spaces are the first stop for visitors for an introduction about SAIO Assisi winery and wines.

There they will receive a map showing the walking paths and instructions where they can find information about the wines and grapes along the paths.

Then it’s only 15 minute walk through the vineyards to the SAIO pavilion, but also longer paths are available.

On the way to the pavilion visitors can admire the panoramic view of Assisi, Perugia and Santa Maria degli Angeli.

A lunch will follow.

Both young and old will find the walk an easy and enjoyable one.

Picnic lunch menu: 

• 1 glass of SAIO Assisi wine of your choice
• Bruschetta with SAIO extra virgin olive oil.
• Pecorino cheese.
• Caciotta cheese with black truffle.
• Handmade Torta al Testo (lightly salted Umbrian flatbread).
• Selection of local cured meats.
• Traditional Umbrian dessert.
