Gradara

Just 15 kilometers from the Excelsior, an enchanted village waiting to be discovered.

Gradara, inextricably linked to the love story of Paolo and Francesca sung by Dante, still preserves intact the charm of an ancient medieval village, surrounded by a scenic city wall characterized by imposing towers and characteristic square embattled towers.

The magic of the village manifests itself from the first access, which takes place through the Porta dell'Orologio: from there, along via Umberto I on which low buildings with shops and convent places are built, you reach the intermediate wall, which separates the village from the Rocca, a sublime example of a perfectly preserved medieval structure:

the layout is square, enhanced by an imposing polygonal tower on the north-eastern side;
The original structure dates back to the 12th century (although it was repeatedly modified under the rule of the Malatesta family first and subsequently the Sforza family);
The interiors are furnished with valuable furniture and embellished with famous paintings, frescoes and altarpieces.

Around the castle, do not miss the Path of Lovers, a scenic walkway that surrounds the hill offering breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and the sea of Pesaro, a wonderful patch of blue on the horizon.
